Sample course schedule: what can a course schedule look like?
This 2026–27 Level One calendar is an example of what a Spanish With Shannon course schedule can look like; it is not the current course calendar. The example shows a 36-week, Thursday-based course organized into four quarters, with class dates, important notes, lesson topics, Quizlet sets, book and homework assignments, holiday adjustments, Quick Quiz reminders, and interactive activities. Dates, materials, assignments, activities, and class changes vary by course and year. Students receive the current course schedule directly from Shannon.

How are online classes structured?
If you don’t know Shannon yet, expect a high-energy, enthusiastic instructor who uses tricks, stories, humor, and proven instructional techniques to help material stay in long-term memory. Concepts are taught on a large whiteboard just as they would be in person, with interactive questions, answers, videos, songs, games, and real-time support. Classes are 90 minutes, and every minute is used for instruction, reinforcement, and application. Shannon is available throughout the week for questions, and a Level 2 course is planned for learners who want to continue their Spanish journey.
Are classes recorded?
Yes. Lessons are recorded, and students have access to previous lessons and links through Shannon’s private Spanish With Shannon YouTube channel. Because recordings remain available, the class fee still applies if a student misses a week.
What materials will I need?
Before the first class, students need a dry-erase board (or similar), dry-erase markers, a spiral or composition notebook, and a free Quizlet account. The current course also uses Easy Spanish Step by Step, Basic Spanish, and No Nonsense Spanish Workbook. Students register with Quizlet, join the Spanish With Shannon Quizlet class, and attend Zoom with the supplied meeting link.
How much time should I expect to practice outside of class?
Assignments are optional for staying enrolled, but they reinforce learning and help fluency grow. Students may complete quick quizzes at the beginning of class, homework from the curriculum before the next class, and weekly Quizlet vocabulary tests. Participation, homework uploads, quizzes, games, and Quizlet tests earn points; weekly prizes are mailed based on accumulated points.
What types of assignments will there be?
Assessment is part of learning, but the course uses a supportive approach for busy adults. Quick Quizzes cover material from the previous week; Homework Assignments reinforce skills from all three books and are due before the next class; Quizlet Vocabulary Tests help students study important weekly words and complete assessments. All assignments are optional for enrollment, but they help reinforce skills and move them into long-term memory.
How much Spanish will I learn?
Students will learn a lot of Spanish. Conversation is the goal, and knowledge is the foundation. Shannon teaches the most important concepts in a structured format, then applies them through tactics, stories, formulas, and tricks. The class is designed to be attainable yet challenging, with extra practice for those who want more and a class-size limit of 20 so instruction can be tailored to learners’ needs.
How much does the course cost?
Individual instruction or tutoring is typically $80 per hour. The group course is $25 per week, or approximately $16.70 per hour. A minimum nine-week commitment and payment up front are required so the course can be limited in size and each student’s place can be reserved.
I want to take this course! What do I do now?
Complete the attached form and indicate your intent to enroll. The course begins August 20. To secure a spot, payment for at least one class is required; then payment is due in advance for the remaining first quarter (eight weeks total). Students may pay weekly, for the entire first session, or for the full course. Once payment is received, students are added to Google Classroom. If a class is full, Shannon maintains a waiting list.
What will I need before the first class?
Bring a dry-erase board (or similar), dark-color dry-erase markers, a spiral or composition notebook, and a free Quizlet account. Course books: Easy Spanish Step by Step ($8.99 new / $5.12 used), Basic Spanish ($16.39 new / $12.78 used), and No Nonsense Spanish Workbook ($15.99 new / $8.99 used). Since these are consumables, buying new is recommended. Students also need to register for Quizlet, join the Spanish With Shannon Quizlet class, attend Zoom with the supplied link, and enter the Google Classroom code supplied by Shannon.
